The Florida SWAT Association is committed to providing
our membership with the most affordable and productive
Tactical Operations Conference in the country. In
conjunction with the Miami-Dade Police Department our
3rd Annual Tactical Operations Conference will take
place in Miami, FL on June 2 – 5, 2008.
Attendees may choose from 24, 16, 8, 3 and 2-hour
practical training courses including Dignitary
Protection, Elevated Tactics, Breaching-Mechanical &
Explosive, Vehicle/Bus Assaults, Waterborne Operations,
Combat Carbine, Defensive Tactics, High Risk Entry,
Tactical Firearms Courses and TEMS. An array of 8, 3 and
2-hour seminar courses will be held at the
InterContinental West Miami Hotel and will cover several
high speed topics important to today’s operator.
The conference will begin on Monday, June 2nd with
student registration, a first-class vendor show and
tactical debriefs, and our FSA Membership Night hosted
by Point Blank/PACA Body Armor with food and beverages
provided.
A highlight of this year’s conference will be the
Commander’s Panel Discussion on “Choosing the Right
Tactics. Why & How?” It will be held on Monday June 2nd
at the InterContinental West Miami Hotel. This is a
unique opportunity for Command Level discussion on
defending our choice of tactics and determining the
proper choice of tactics for our missions. FSA has
brought in some of the best subject matter experts in
the country who will participate in this panel
discussion with Tactical Leaders throughout the FSA
membership. All Team Commanders, Deputy Team Commanders
and future Command Staff are encouraged to attend this
special panel discussion.
Check in is mandatory on Monday June 2nd, so please plan
on registering early and attending the vendor exhibit
and tactical debriefs provided throughout the day.
On Tuesday June 3rd Conference attendees will be
provided two dynamic presentations. The first
presentation will be on Tactical Thinking & Survival for
Today’s SWAT Operator presented by Master Peace Officer
Sandy Wall, Houston P.D. SWAT. The second presentation
will be on The Virginia Tech Massacre, which was a
school shooting comprising two separate attacks about
two hours apart on April 16, 2007, on the Virginia Tech
campus in Blacksburg, Virginia, United States. The
perpetrator, Seung-Hui Cho, killed 32 people and wounded
many more, before committing suicide, making it the
deadliest school shooting in U.S. history. This
presentation will be presented by Lt. George Jackson of
the Virginia Tech University Police Department.
Classes will begin on Wednesday morning and continue
through Friday afternoon. The length of each course can
be located on the Conference Registration Form.
As always our vendor show will bring together more than
45 vendors to showcase the latest in law enforcement
technology. Vendors will also be conducting product
